Young Artists: Color Expressions (ages 8 – 10)

Students spend a week exploring the science and art of color by creating drawings, collages, paintings, and sculptures. Each lesson is based on artworks in the Museum’s permanent collection. In this Young Artists class, students discover the meanings in artworks, through personal and guided close investigation, and apply those ideas to the creation of their own colorful and expressive artworks in our studio! Cost: $250.
Teacher: Adam Farcus is the William R. Hollingsworth Fellow in Engagement and Learning at the Mississippi Museum of Art. Farcus’ classes and their personal artwork asks people to become engaged and rigorous investigators of the world around them. They have hold an MFA in studio art from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BFA in painting and drawing from Illinois State University. Their work has been exhibited at numerous venues, including Vox Populi, Philadelphia; the American University Museum, and A+D Gallery, Columbia College, Chicago. They have lectured on their work at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Performance Studies International 16 conference, among many others.
