Description: How do we celebrate people or things that we think are trendy? What are today’s trends?  In this week’s camp, participants will learn about the Pop Art Movement, debate what is popular today, and create pieces using 2D and 3D media that will showcase each participant’s favorite people, places, and things. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s Triple Elvis, along with notable pop artists Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Richard Hamilton, and Peter Blake, this week’s projects will examine the popular then and now. Cost: $250. Lunch is optional.

Teacher: Cassandre Connolly, a native New Yorker, moved to Jackson, Mississippi, in 2015 with Teach For America. For the past three years, she has acted as the Art Teacher at Siwell Middle School, and was awarded Teacher of the Year 2016-2017. Ms. Connolly has been working with the Mississippi Museum of Art since 2016, and has experience teaching at the Museum School.
